We keep a strong stock of 304 and 316 stainless steel sheet in 2B, hot rolled, brushed finish (DP1, also known as brushed), and mirror finish (MP1). Material is available up to 6 mm thick. If we don’t have what you need on the shelf, we can usually source it within 24 to 48 hours. You can also freely issue your own material, and we will price for laser cutting only.
Our team specialises in laser cutting stainless steel, bending, and welding for sign makers, yacht and boat builders, pharmaceutical and food plant manufacturers, and many other sectors. Stainless steel offers high corrosion resistance compared to carbon and alloy steels, but it is not completely immune. It is stainless, not stain-free. Without proper care, rust can still develop. Grade 316, often called marine grade, contains at least 2 percent molybdenum, which gives it stronger corrosion resistance than 304.
When laser cutting stainless steel, the cut quality is excellent. The process delivers cleaner edges and a higher level of detail than cutting mild steel or aluminium. While stainless steel costs more than mild steel, its appearance and durability make it a top choice across many industries.
Good to know: Stainless steel does not rust with the red oxide layer seen on regular steel. Most corrosion happens when contaminants settle on the surface. Without maintenance, stainless steel can still look tarnished. Grade 430 contains more carbon and is magnetic, unlike many other stainless grades.
